Aromatherapy – Use of Pure Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote health and vitality by stimulating the body to heal itself and by reducing stress, which is often the cause of many ailments and illnesses.  Essential oils are highly concentrated natural plant-based extracts obtained from the aromatic flowers, leaves, roots, peel, resin, seeds, bark and rind.

Designed to treat the whole body, aromatherapy aims to assist the body’s natural abilities to heal, rest and recover from stress and illness.

As a qualified Clinical Aromatherapist, I will create a blend of essential oils for your personal needs.    Essential Oils can be used in any of my massages, though to ensure safe and correct use I will carry out a health consultation prior to the massage.

Use of essential oils in my massages are included in the pricing.

Swedish Massage

‘Swedish’ is the classic gentle massage with long strokes and light-to-firm pressure to warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle knots or adhered tissues.  Helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness in addition to promoting relaxation.

Better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief.

Deep Tissue Massage

Focusing on releasing tension in the deeper muscles and connective tissues. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. When muscles are stressed, they inhibit blood flow, impeding the distribution of oxygen and nutrients around the body. As a result, toxins build up in the muscle and they become inflamed. The purpose is to ‘unstick’ muscle fibres in order to release tension, remove toxins and relax and sooth the muscles. This enables blood to circulate properly, releasing toxins from the muscles.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a Hindu massage technique tracing back to ancient Ayurvedic health care.  Practised in India for over 5000 years to improve overall health, this massage has become more popular in recent years.

The treatment focuses on the scalp, face, neck, upper back and shoulders using a combination of massage strokes and acupressure points.

Treatment includes kneading and probing of the neck and shoulder areas. The scalp is then massaged, using squeezing, tapping, rubbing or prodding motions.  Facial pressure points are stimulated to relieve sinus pressure, increase alertness and stimulate circulation.

The goal is to clear blockages in these energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy. Assists with easing stress and pain strives to restore balance and inner harmony to the mind, body and spirit.

Indian Head Massage can assist with sinusitis, the relieving stress that can manifest into headaches, migraines and mandibular joint tension.

Cancer Massage

If you have been diagnosed with cancer and feel you would benefit from a massage, please call me to discuss.   I am qualified to massage people with cancer and will work with your Consultant or Doctor to ensure you receive massage best suited to your personal needs.

Pregnancy & Post-natal Massage

Pregnancy for most mothers to be is an exciting time, while for others it can be a time of immense anxiety, stress and fear.

Pregnancy Massage is a great way to relax, reduce anxiety and have some special time to connect with your new baby.

Although most clients wait until after the first trimester (usually at about 16-20 weeks) before having a massage, treatment can be given at any stage of pregnancy.

Massage will be given with you lying on your side, with pillows to support you comfortably.

Towards the end of pregnancy, you may find it more comfortable to sit in a chair or on therapy ball, leaning forward over pillows on the massage couch.

Whatever position is safe and comfortable for you, I will work with you to give you a relaxing massage, and relieving muscular tension.

Benefits of Massage

Postnatal massage is suitable at as soon as you feel the need following the birth. For those who have a natural birth with no complications then you can have a massage as soon as you wish following the birth.

While those you have had a caesarean section, it is advised to wait a few weeks for the body to have time to heal.

A postnatal massage gift voucher is always a very welcome gift for a new mum!

At the Well Being Centre we don’t not expect to be made to feel uncomfortable or have any sexual requests made.  Any requests like this will result in you being asked to leave immediately.
